Quinta da Escudeira, located in the Barris valley, between the Serra do Louro and Serra da Arrábida, is a privileged place due to its geographical location. Located on one of the slopes of the Serra dos Gaiteiros, Quinta da Escudeira's Country House will get its name from the 18th century chapel adjacent to the main house and is flanked by a swimming pool with large areas and a beautiful view over the valley.

On a hillside cut of rare beauty, it is a unique place of refuge for both a weekend of nature and for a longer holiday to better enjoy all the potential of the area.

The Quinta is self-sustainable thanks to the installation of photovoltaic panels for energy production and solar thermal panels for domestic water heating, with the consequent reduction in energy consumption and the release of CO2.

The Casa de Campo consists of two bedrooms, a bedroom-suite with double bed and a bedroom with two beds, living room with sofa bed, kitchen and bathroom. It has access to the deck and the pool. It has air conditioning, television and wi-fi.

In 1750, the Reverend D. Francisco Fernandes Coelho ordered the construction of the Chapel in the precise place where the ancestral worship of Our Lady of the Mistress was celebrated, thanks to the contributions of its devotees. The Chapel survived the earthquake of 1755 and the worship of Our Lady remained rooted in local traditions.

The current owners with the support of PRODER, carried out works of conservation and restoration of the Chapel between 2010 and 2013, and of valorization of the farm.

The Chapel was redecorated, respecting the pre-existing moth and tradition, and the owners have contributed to the preservation of the Feast of Our Lady of the Mute. It should be noted that the cult of Nossa Senhora da Conceição da Escudeira is the oldest in the municipality of Palmela, and the celebration of the respective pilgrimage and feast is held with great devotion, held every year on the weekend of August 15, with the participation of hundreds of visitors.

In addition to the Chapel, two wells, a mine and two old tanks are part of Quinta da Escudeira heritage and are of great symbolic value for the experiences they contain, of interest to the community, constituting a factor of identity and attractiveness of the territory. They were irrigation works, which carried water to all the steep terrain of the hills, allowing self-sufficiency agriculture.

A visit to Quinta da Escudeira allows a return to the past, to learn how the people of the past lived!

Quinta da Escudeira offers its surroundings for outdoor activities, wine tastings, birthday parties, among other events. (Patio of the Holidays - 600m2 and Patio of the Olive Trees - 350m2).
For weddings and baptisms, Quinta da Escudeira offers, in addition to the surrounding spaces, also the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Escudeira.
